About the event
This international workshop was held in Amsterdam from 5 – 7 June 2024 and co-organized by Tim Moss. Attended by historians, heritage researchers, artists and science communicators (including our Pauline Münch), the purpose was to exchange experiences of enrolling history to enrich contemporary debates with diverse publics and to develop activities to support future ventures of this kind. A variety of interactive formats were employed to turn participants’ ideas into collective projects for advancing ways of making histories actionable for sustainable futures. These projects range from a participatory history handbook and an edited volume to a summer school on usable pasts, a digital exhibition on archives making and erasing memory and a group keen on developing embodied practices and affective methodologies, as experienced through walking or cycling. They are currently being pursued by groups of interested workshop participants.
